We visited artist Kasper Muttonen at his studio in Lapinlahti, Helsinki. He talked to us about the elements of his upcoming exhibition: Water, Domes, and finally – Utopia (the title of his exhibition) vs. Dystopia.
In the context of environmental change, Muttonen reflects on how close our current reality is to Dystopia, and our constant dream and aspiration to Utopia. Watch the videos below to hear the artist’s point of view and to see what to expect from his upcoming show at Galleria Sculptor.
Kasper Muttonen (b. 1979) studied painting and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, as well as Architecture at the Helsinki University of Technology. He graduated from the fine arts master’s degree in 2003. In the recent years he has worked in several residences such as Villa Lante Artists’ Studio in Rome, Italy and the Cultural Association Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf, Germany in 2015. Kasper Muttonen has had several group and solo exhibitions in Finland and abroad, in Germany, Sweden and Switzerland. The theme of the exhibition at Gallery Sculptor – Utopia – will continue at Meinblau Projektraum in Berlin, in the autumn of 2016.
